Formal education will make you a living; self-education will make you a fortune.
Jim Rohn

My real estate career began in 2004. I was teaching school at the time and looked to the real estate industry to supplement my income. My first summer in the business was a very profitable one compared to my current salary and I jump feet first into the world of 100% commission sales that following November. Yet, the months and years that followed, leading up to the "Great Recession" were filled with ups and downs, as opposed to steady, sustainable growth. It took the economic downturn of 2008 and great advice from a mentor at the time, for me to realize that becoming a learning based real estate agent was the missing link.

I began by being consistently present in the office, attending sales meetings and participating in in-house training events. I became obsessed with webinars and anything of value that I could find on Youtube. Applying the knowledge I gained from Mega Agents, like Ben Kinney, eventually led to sales. The more internet leads I converted into viable sales opportunties, the more I hooked on learning I became.

I was recognized as Agent of the Year in 2010 and began building a team that same year. It wasn't until my wife, Diana, joined our team in 2011, that things began to jive. Diana was learning based from start. She immediately bought into the scripts, systems, leads, leverage, yet most importantly, she was committed to time-blocking! Diana also became a student of the mortgage and title process, as well as the local real estate market stats. If she had no scheduled appointments, then you'd find her in the office making prospecting calls - all day every day! She soon became the Lead Homebuyer Specialist on our team and became the example for others to follow.

Despite building one of the most successful real estate teams in the Gulf States Region for Keller Williams, they fired us in 2013. It was a devastating blow to our personally and professionally at the time, as we were living out of the country on a Caribbean island off the coast of Panama, Bocas del Toro. It turned out to be an amazing blessing, as it brought humility to our hearts and added a mountain of grit to our mindset. At the end of the day, the leadership of our former brokerage created a monster that now haunts broker/owner/managers in several major markets across the great State of Alabama.

My passion in life is to help people grow and achieve their goals. I feel the key to my effectiveness is that I am a continual work in progress myself. The struggle for human optimization is very real, and I am right there in the trenches day in and day out. I don't profess to have all the answers, nor do I have all the formulas for success figured out, yet I'm committed to learning, evolving, and teaching everything I learn from those eager to pay it forward.
